"Petrozavodsky Universitet" ("PU") newspaper has been  published since 1956. "PU" is a weekly four-page paper (one printer sheet of A3 size) with 800 copies circulation.

"PU" is publishing information about scientific,  social, international and student life of Petrozavodsk State University as well as important  problematic  and analytical articles. 

Staff of the newspaper includes the editor-in chief, journalist and computer  operator. The authors are mostly students, teachers and officials of PetrSU. The newspaper is entirely under the auspices of PetrSU.

During the 50 years long life of the newspaper many of its freelance correspondent have become professional journalists. Now students majoring in journalism familiarize themselves with their trade: they prepare appendices to the newspaper, publish their articles in regular issues.

Before November, 1995 the  newspaper  had been published in Petrozavodsk printing house, but now it is published by the Publishing House of PetrSU. There has appeared an opportunity to make colour newspaper issues devoted to anniversaries and celebrations.
